How Does It Work?

Consultation: Your skin will be examined to determine your skin type, acne type and sensitivity level. We will discuss you skin habits and diet.

Products: Home care products are required for effective results and will last 2-4 months (when used as directed). You will receive a guideline on how to use your products.

Treatment: If receiving tretments, you will be seen every 2-4 weeks for an Acne Treatment. Sometimes your skin will need hydration and other times, peels. Your home care regimen will be adjusted as needed.

Why do I Have Acne?

More than 60 million Americans suffer from some form of acne breakouts. Acne affects more than 80% of all

teenagers at some point in their lives. Clogged pores comprise more than 25% of all visits to the dermatologist.

What is Acne?

Acne is an inherited disorder of the pore. It starts at puberty when the oil glands start maturing. A normal pore sheds about 1 layer of dead skin cells a day. But someone with this disorder can shed up to 5 layers a day. All those dead skin cells combined with oil form a plug in the pore. This is how all acne starts. This is called “retention hyperkeratosis”. It forms congestion under the skin which are noninflamed acne lesions, such as blackheads and/or whiteheads. If bacteria is present, inflamed pimples, pustules and/or cysts will form.
